The teacher, whose name has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim, is accused of rap!ng a grade 5 pupil on September 23 while they were en route to a borehole around 4 PM.
The alleged incident occurred in a secluded, bushy area where the teacher purportedly dragged the minor before s3xually ass@ulting her.
The accused has denied the allegations, maintaining that he was supervising the construction of a classroom block during the time of the alleged crime, suggesting that the charges stem from a personal vendetta by the school head who feels threatened by his increased qualifications.
He argues that the head wants to eliminate him as a competitor after he obtained a degree that positions him as more qualified for leadership roles within the school.
According to the minor’s account, the teacher instructed her to fetch water for him after other students had gone home, and he followed her to the borehole.
Upon overtaking her before she reached the water source, the accused allegedly committed the act while threatening her to remain silent about the ordeal.
Following the incident, the minor confided in a female teacher, who subsequently helped her file a police report.
This led to the teacher’s arrest on October 9, 2024, as authorities took the allegations seriously.
The case has drawn attention to issues of power dynamics in educational settings and the importance of protecting vulnerable students.
The remand decision reflects the legal system’s commitment to ensuring that victims are heard and justice is pursued rigorously.
