Telecommunications company TelOne has launched its latest innovation aimed at advancing smart cities through vehicle tracking and street surveillance.
Speaking to journalists during a recent media tour in Bulawayo, TelOne Commercial Director Maureen Chirambaguhwa highlighted that the system enables the tracking of corporate vehicles and individual fleets. Additionally, she emphasized its capability for fuel management in corporate vehicles.
“We are able to monitor security events and manage fuel usage with our platform, detecting instances of fuel siphoning,” said Chirambaguhwa.
She also noted the system’s ability to record events, including accidents, providing comprehensive data for analysis and review.
“We can even monitor cargo transportation by suppliers and track drivers on the road. In the event of an accident, all pertinent information can be recorded,” added the executive.
Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal, and Courier Services, Tatenda Mavetera, commended TelOne for its innovative approach during a recent visit to the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF).
“We really want to thank TelOne for its innovative approach, as it aligns with the vision of our President and the needs of our digital economy. Modernizing infrastructure, such as the street cameras planted in Harare and now Bulawayo, is a step in the right direction. We need to continue to connect and innovate,” said Minister Mavetera.
