THANDIWE Nkomo EBRAHIM URGES YOUTHS TO TAKE CHARGE OF THEIR FUTURE

Thandiwe Nkomo Ebrahim, daughter of the late national hero Dr. Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo, has called on Zimbabwean youths to rise up and take charge of their future. Speaking at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Memorial Lecture in Bulawayo, she urged young people to stop waiting for change and instead be the catalysts for it.

Ebrahim encouraged the audience of students and educators to take action and solve problems in their own way. She reflected on her father’s values and leadership, describing him as a man of peace, transparency, discipline, and humility. She reminded the audience that Joshua Nkomo fought for independence and unity, not personal power.

Ebrahim urged the youth to take responsibility and not remain passive in the face of corruption and other challenges. She emphasized that it is time for young people to take charge and bring about change. The lecture, delivered by Kwanele Hlabangana, was part of an annual tribute to Nkomo’s legacy and provided young people with an opportunity to learn about the life of one of Zimbabwe’s founding fathers. fathers. The event also included a tour of the Joshua Nkomo Museum, allowing students to learn more about his life and legacy.

There are ongoing efforts to have July 1 declared a national holiday in honor of Dr. Joshua Nkomo’s legacy. His daughter’s call to action serves as a reminder of the importance of taking responsibility and working towards a better future for all Zimbabweans.
