In a thrilling tale of bravery and expertise, ZimParks rangers have put down a rogue lion that had been terrorizing the Mutsago area of Marange, Mutare District. The lion, which had been causing chaos and instilling fear in the villagers, had claimed the lives of four cattle. Because, you know, lions are just doing their job, right?
ZimParks spokesperson Tinashe Farawo confirmed that the lion was finally tracked and eliminated on Sunday night, bringing an end to days of anxiety among villagers. The lion’s elusive, nocturnal behavior made it challenging to track, but the rangers were up for the task. After all, they’re trained professionals…or so we’re told.
The villagers can finally sleep peacefully, knowing that the lion is no longer roaming free. ZimParks deserves a pat on the back for a job well done. The community’s collaboration with ZimParks and the support from the Mutare Rural District Council, the Civil Protection Unit, traditional leaders, and councillors all contributed to the successful outcome.
Tinashe Farawo urged members of the public to refrain from confronting or attempting to hunt stray animals, stressing that trained wildlife rangers are best equipped to manage the situation safely and professionally. Because, you know, we don’t want any more accidents or, heaven forbid, YouTube videos of people trying to take selfies with lions.
This development follows a series of alarming incidents involving stray buffaloes that recently left six people injured in Mutare and Buhera districts. One of the rogue buffaloes was put down in Marange. Let’s hope ZimParks is ready for the next challenge.
