Zimbabwean mixed martial artist Themba Gorimbo has revealed that he has decided to halt his dream project of building a solar-powered library in his village.
This initiative aimed to provide a valuable resource for children in the area, but unforeseen challenges have forced him to reconsider his plans.
Themba took to social media to share his disheartening news, stating, “The saddest thing I have to publicly say is that I was trying to build a solar-powered library in my village, and the building was already almost finished.” His words convey not only disappointment but also a profound sense of hope for what the library could have represented for the community.
Unfortunately, Themba revealed that he faced issues with some individuals who seemed to want to take over his project. These people were advising him on how to handle his own endeavor, which ultimately contributed to his decision to stop construction and dismantle what had already been built. “I feel sad about this decision,” he continued, reflecting on what could have been a life-changing facility for the local children who would have benefitted from the library’s resources.

Despite his initial intentions to complete the project during this trip, the emotional toll of dealing with these complications became too much for Themba. He stated, “This is something that can give me peace because I cannot continue with dealing with what I deal with behind the scenes.” The burden of not only the project but also the external pressures made it clear that he needed to step back for his own well-being.
The library was not just a structure; it symbolized Themba’s wish to contribute positively to his community. “Many kids were going to benefit from this project,” he explained, expressing the deep sense of loss he feels for the children who might have used the library for learning and development. It was a dream that had required significant financial investment, with Themba personally financing about three-quarters of the project from his own pocket. Sadly, he had hoped to auction off his fight gear to support the library further, but, in the end, that was not an option.
In his heartfelt message, Themba shared his philosophy about giving and personal freedom. He mentioned his desire to spend his money in ways that resonate with him without feeling obligated to others who feel entitled to dictate how he should be using his resources. “I try not to belong to anyone because it creates entitlement,” he noted, emphasizing that he wishes to act according to his heart’s desires.
Even though this setback has been incredibly disappointing, Themba is choosing to look forward. “Anyways, my next mission is dealing with strangers and making their days better and life better,” he concluded. This statement reflects his resilient spirit and determination to continue making a positive impact, despite the challenges he has faced.
