The official launch of the installation of the first batch of bucket seats at Rufaro Stadium has sparked criticism across Zimbabwe.
A portion of the 10,000-seat consignment arrived at the stadium today.
Upon completion, the stadium is expected to have a capacity of 22,000 bucket seats.
This comes after five trucks carrying part of the 60,000 bucket seats earmarked for installation at the National Sports Stadium (NSS) were delivered on Friday afternoon.
This is a step towards securing approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for Zimbabwe’s bid to host international matches at home.
News about the official launch of the installation of the first batch of bucket seats at Rufaro Stadium has sparked fury from Zimbabweans. Netizens expressed dissatisfaction with the quality and arrangement of the seats. Many argued that the seating configuration leaves little legroom between the terraces.
Social media users further opined that Zimbabwe needs more modern, state-of-the-art stadiums

Shame! How long to get plastic seats in a national stadium. This is where this regime has brought us. I basic event being celebrated like a significant event.
Are they not supposed to be staggered row by row to minimise the row in front from blocking the one behind?
