Police in Chinhoyi are investigating a case of unlawful entry and theft that occurred during the night of July 6 2024, at a church located along Highway Drive, Mazari.
The incident reportedly took place at the church’s offices.
The unknown suspects allegedly gained entry into the office area, where they broke open the safe and stole a substantial amount of US$35 000 in cash.
The investigation has thus far revealed that a burnt fuse and explosive residue were recovered at the scene, suggesting that the suspects may have used force to gain access to the safe.
The police are appealing to anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and report it at their nearest police station.
This includes anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident or has any knowledge about the identity of the suspects.
The police are working diligently to bring the culprits to justice and recover the stolen funds.
