Jameson Timba, the interim leader of the Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) faction, along with 78 other party activists, have marked 15 days in custody since their arrest last month.
According to a post by former CCC deputy spokesperson Gift Ostallos on X, Newsreportzim.com has learned that as of today, July 1, Timba and the other activists have been in custody for 15 days.
“Today marks 15 days since the unjust detention of Hon. Timba and 78 others on trumped-up charges. A gathering in a private residence has sent the regime into a panic.
Only an illegitimate regime fears its own citizens. We must loudly condemn this injustice and criminal abuse of the justice delivery system,” the post reads.
Timba and the others were arrested by the Zimbabwe Republic Police at his residence in Avondale for allegedly holding an unauthorized political meeting.
The opposition activists were denied bail by Harare Provincial Magistrate Ruth Moyo.
