A 31-year-old tl0f tl0f worker and her boyfriend recently st@bbed a client to d3ath after he refused to pay $5 upfront for her services.
Fungai Kufakwatenzi and her live-in boyfriend, Onesimo Tonha Chamutsa, from Birchenough Bridge, appeared before Chipinge magistrate Alfred Chinembiri and were remanded in custody until December 11. Manica Post reported that they were advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
The victim, Wellington Mupfuti, had hired Fungai for a short time encounter on 26 November 2023. They met at a nightclub in Birchenough Bridge Growth Point where Wellington and Fungai were drinking beer. As they enjoyed their drinks, Wellington expressed interest in tl0f tl0f, prompting Fungai to quote US$5 for her services.
Leaving the nightclub for Wellington’s home, the situation took a grim turn when Fungai insisted on upfront payment, a demand the client vehemently rejected. The disagreement escalated into a physical fight, with Fungai allegedly pulling out a knife from her bra and stabbing Wellington in the forehead and shoulder.
In a twist to the unfolding tragedy, Onesimo, Fungai’s boyfriend, arrived at the scene. Fungai reportedly handed him the knife, and he joined in the ass@ult, st@bbing Wellington in the neck and back. The victim, now bl33ding profusely, found himself in a dire situation.
Fortunately, a police officer named Cannan Zaranyika, who happened to be passing by after attending the Save Beach Party, heard Wellington’s yells for help. Zaranyika rushed to the scene, discovering Fungai and Onesimo holding the injured Wellington. Despite their attempt to flee, Zaranyika managed to apprehend the accused.
Zaranyika, quick on his feet, provided first aid to Wellington and rushed him to Birchenough Bridge Hospital. However, Wellington succumbed to his injuries upon admission. The court proceedings will unfold as Fungai and Onesimo face the serious charges brought against them, highlighting the devastating consequences of a seemingly minor disagreement.
