Famous musician Obey Makamure, known as Tocky Vibes, is in trouble in South Africa, as he faces arrest upon his arrival in Johannesburg.
This issue started when music promoter Royce Mapaike filed a fraud complaint against Tocky. Mapaike had paid for Tocky’s flights, lodging, and video shoots, expecting that Tocky would perform two shows in return.
However, after spending nearly R30,000, Tocky and his team avoided Mapaike, stopped taking his calls, and blocked him. Mapaike then reported the problem to the Brixton Police Station.
Tocky had two shows in Johannesburg recently.
During his first show at Club Rampage on Friday night, police and Mapaike tried to arrest him. The organizers made a deal allowing Tocky to perform for an hour before arresting him. When the time came, Tocky managed to slip away from the police.
On Saturday morning, Mapaike and the police followed Tocky to his guest house. Tocky was supposed to perform at Alicats Pub that night. The club owner had to call a lawyer, who negotiated to resolve the issue on Sunday.

However, Tocky flew back to Harare on Sunday morning before the matter could be settled.
Mapaike is frustrated and believes that Tocky will eventually be caught because his passport is now flagged. If Tocky tries to return to South Africa, he will be arrested.
A person close to Tocky’s team denied Mapaike’s claims after speaking to H Metro, saying Mapaike was dishonest. They claimed Mapaike paid only $500 and tried to use ticket sales as part of the deal, which wasn’t fair.
They also said Tocky had to cover part of the video costs himself.
Mapaike has a history of problems, including leaving comedian Mai Titi without food or proper lodging a few years ago. Despite the drama, Tocky performed well at both shows, which were very crowded.
