A Chivhu tout, Simbarashe Guvheya, has been sentenced to 10 years in pr!son for engaging in s3xual int3rcourse with a minor after he took advantage of a 16-year-old girl who was stranded at a shopping center.
The incident took place on February 16 of last year when the teenager found herself unable to return home to Wiltshire after leaving her residence in search of work, which she was unable to secure.
The teenager, who was unfamiliar with the area, encountered Guvheya at the Masasa Business area around 6 pm.
Although he was a complete stranger to her, Guvheya presented himself as a helpful figure, and they quickly developed a relationship.
Over the course of the next 12 days, the two began to profess lov3 for one another and agreed to live together as if they were married in Guvheya’s home.
This relationship, however, was fraught with difficulties and raised concerns for the young girl. She ultimately sought help when she decided to visit the Masasa Police Station to discuss her situation and request relationship advice.
It was during this consultation that authorities learned of the circumstances surrounding her situation and promptly initiated an investigation.
Guvheya was subsequently arr3sted, and the case was brought before a magistrate in Chivhu. In court, he pleaded guilty to the charges against him, which led to his conviction.
The severity of the offense, particularly given the age of the victim, resulted in a significant sentence of 10 years imprisonment, reflecting the legal system’s commitment to protecting minors from exploitation and @buse.
