A Harare City Council traffic officer has found himself in hot water after allegedly demanding a brib3 from a motorist and ass@ulting him when he asked for his money back.
This incident has put the city’s traffic operations under scrutiny once again, as several motorists have come forward in the past complaining of harassment by traffic officers.
According to reports, the latest case, involving Plot Mhako, has been recorded and has sparked concern. In response, the Harare City Council has issued a statement urging the resident involved to come forward and cooperate with the investigation.
This isn’t the first time the city’s traffic operations have faced criticism. The council has faced allegations of corruption and misconduct in the past, with some questioning the effectiveness of their internal controls.
The Harare City Council has various departments and services aimed at ensuring the well-being of residents, including the Housing and Community Services department, which handles housing matters, maintenance, and social services.
“The City of Harare takes such issues seriously and stern disciplinary action will be taken against this officer and others who engage in such unprofessional conduct. Our sincere apologies to the resident,” said the city.
