A devastating incident occurred in the Charara Safari area of Kariba, resulting in the de@th of 54-year-old Sinai Mpofu.
According to Zimpapers, Mpofu and her companions were returning from a fishing trip on Lake Kariba when they encountered an aggressive elephant.
The animal charged, causing the group to scatter, and tragically, Mpofu was att@cked.
According to Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority spokesperson Tinashe Farawo, the elephant’s tusk inflicted severe inj_ries, breaking Mpofu’s arm and penetrating her abdomen. Despite efforts to track and eliminate the elephant, the damage was done.
Eyewitness Pedzisai Chabeta recounted the horrific scene, describing how the group watched in horror as the elephant att@cked Mpofu.
Kariba Residents Trust chairperson Munyaradzi Jokonai expressed his condolences and called for urgent action from authorities to protect locals from wild animal att@cks, citing a recent similar incident.
The community demands legislation to safeguard them from such tragedies.
