The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a tragic road traffic accident that occurred on August 26 2024.
The accident took place at approximately 1710 hours at the 38-kilometre peg along the Masvingo-Mbalabala Road, resulting in the de@ths of two individuals and leaving two others inj_red.
The accident involved a Toyota Belta vehicle, which had two occupants, that collided head-on with an Inter Africa Bus carrying 43 passengers.
Following the severe impact, emergency services promptly arrived at the scene, where the bodies of the deceased were retrieved and taken to the Masvingo General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
Meanwhile, the two !njured individuals received immediate medical attention at the Mashava Clinic and were later discharged, highlighting the urgent response of healthcare services amidst the tragic incident.
The ZRP is likely to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine the cause and prevent future occurrences on this busy roadway.
