The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) are investigating two fatal hit and run road traffic accident which occurred on 31st of December 2024 in two different towns, Kwekwe and Harare. The first struck was a male juvenile who being run over by the trailer of a haulage truck which was circling the roundabout at the 213 kilometre peg along Harare–Bulawayo in Kwekwe.
According to the ZRP’s memo, now the deceased was standing in the traffic roundabout island with his mother who also sustained inj-ries due to the accident. The inj-red victim was taken to Kwekwe General Hospital for treament while the deceased’s body is also at the same hospital’s mortuary ward.
“Police in Kwekwe are investigating a fatal hit and run road traffic accident which occurred at a roundabout at the 213 kilometre peg along Harare–Bulawayo Road on 31/12/24.
A male juvenile was k!lled while his mother was inj-red after being run over by the trailer of a haulage truck which was circling the roundabout. The v!ctims were standing in the traffic roundabout island when the incident occurred,” Police confirmed
Meanwhile, Police in Harare are appealing for information which may assist to identify the body of a male whose age is still unknown who was involved in a fatal road traffic accident along Harare-Bulawayo Road near National Sports Stadium.
The victim was hit by an unknown motorist who did not stop after the accident. The body was taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary for post mortem.
“Meanwhile, a yet to be identified man was killed after being hit by an unknown motorist who did not stop after the accident along Harare-Bulawayo Road near National Sports Stadium, Harare on 31/12/24 at around 2130 hours.
The body was taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary for post mortem. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station,” ZRP Spokesperson confirmed.
