Two separate incidents involving trains have occurred in Zimbabwe, resulting in the deaths of two men. In the first incident, a National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) train ran over a man who was lying lifeless on the tracks at Odzi Siding, near Mutare.
The train crew suspected that the man was already dead before being struck, as he did not respond to the approaching train’s horn. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) attended the scene, but the man’s identity remains unknown due to lack of identification.
In a separate tragedy, Peter Vengesayi, a resident of Village 1, Zeederburg under Chief Mafala, was killed near Zvishavane after lying on railway tracks. The NRZ has expressed condolences to Vengesayi’s family and confirmed that investigations are underway into both incidents.
The NRZ is working to determine the circumstances surrounding both incidents.
