Mzansi is upset that Tyla might be facing a tough road ahead since news broke that she’s indirectly signed to Michael Jackson’s former label.
Tyla, whose full name is Tyla Laura Seethal, signed a deal with Epic Records, an American label under Sony, through a partnership with Fax Records, her South African label.
Contrary to reports claiming Sony paid $2 million to release her from her South African contract, Tyla actually entered into a joint venture with Epic Records through Fax Records, as clarified in a press release by South African blogs News24 and HitsDailyDouble in YUVA.
A joint venture in the music industry is like a teamwork agreement where multiple parties collaborate on a specific project, such as an album or a tour. It outlines their roles, how profits are shared, ownership rights, and each party’s contributions.
These ventures allow everyone involved to pool their resources, skills, and efforts for mutual benefit. Tyla launched her debut EP, ‘Tyla,’ under Fax Records in South Africa and Epic Records in the United States.
Following confirmation that Tyla is signed to Sony, many South Africans on social media expressed concern that her career is in jeopardy. Below are some of the comments:
@Kzn_Bhutiza:
1823 slave deal on her way, hope she save every cent she makes.

@_DonGeneris:
But it’s not over. It’s not like she got there by herself. These labels backed her knocked on doors for. And that my friend comes at a price.
