The University of Zimbabwe (UZ) has officially stated that Dexter Nduna, a member of the ZANU PF Central Committee, did not graduate with a law degree this year, contrary to his assertions.
Nduna, a former member of parliament for Chegutu West and currently tasked with resource mobilization for ZANU PF, was unable to graduate as he did not fulfill the necessary requirements, having failed multiple courses.
He requested a review of his exam results, alleging that his political affiliations may have influenced his academic performance, but this request was ultimately denied.
As a result of his academic standing, Nduna did not receive a transcript indicating course completion and did not obtain a certificate during the graduation ceremony alongside other students.

Despite this, he took to social media to announce his graduation, sharing a receipt for his purchase of a gown under the impression that he was on the graduation list. He even congratulated himself for what he proclaimed was an achievement.
Although he paid the graduation fee and acquired a gown, Nduna found himself in the audience rather than participating in the ceremony as a graduate.
The UZ Faculty of Law released a notice listing students who were unable to graduate in 2024 due to incomplete courses, advising them to re-enroll for the failed subjects in the upcoming academic year.
Nduna, who was pursuing a Bachelor of Substantive Laws—a less recognized qualification compared to the Bachelor of Laws Honours Degree—is included in this list and must retake classes.
He failed three subjects: Energy and Mining Law, Labour Law, and Language Acquisition and Intercultural Communication Literacy (Chinese Language).
