Former 4th Kenyan president, Uhuru Kenyatta has finally released a press statement with regard to the current de@dly protests in the streets of Nairobi.
In the press statement, the former president urged political leaders to recall how they were elected in a democracy and how they should not overlook people’s rights to protest.
The statement read,” “Listening to the people is not a choice but a mandate enshrined in the principles of our constitution and in the very basis and philosophy of democracy”.
He further called for a calm response to protesters from leadership.
“Speak to the people and not at the people”, he further told current president, William Ruto.
Kenyatta’s press release came after several de@ths have bee reported and unlawful arrests of journalists and health practitioners by Kenyan authorities.
Meanwhile, International organisations and observers have also warned Kenyan authorities to observe the rights of the protestors.
