The African National Congress(ANC) has said it anticipates a smooth victory in the Eastern Cape considering the voter’s support in the province.
With at least 50% of the South African votes now counted and confirmed, Jacob Zuma’s MK party is sitting in third position led by the Democratic Alliance(DA).
The ANC has won every national election since a landmark 1994 vote ended white minority rule and brought Mandela to power.
However, the formation of uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK), a new party led by former president Jacob Zuma has seen ANC support being eroded particularly in the Kwazulu-Natal province.
Meanwhile, the SA elections have drawn global attention with incidents of missing ballot boxes during transportation, technical glitches and the Independent Electoral Commission(IEC) results board reportedly down.
