Democratic Alliance(DA) representative, Hellen Zille has dismissed the motion of impeaching ANC leader, Cyril Ramaphosa as new leader of DA-ANC coalition government.
In an interview Zille said,“we won’t vote to impeach a President we voted for”.
Meanwhile, Ramaphosa was re-elected in as the new president of the coalition government on June 14,2024.
“It will once again be a privilege and pleasure to serve this great nation … (as) president,” the 71-year-old leader said in a speech to parliament, describing the coming government as an era of hope and inclusivity.
The deal between two sharply antagonistic parties is the most momentous political shift in South Africa since Nelson Mandela led the ANC to victory in the 1994 election that marked the end of apartheid.
South Africa is preparing for the inauguration of its 7th democratically elected President, Cyril Ramaphosa, on June 19, 2024. The ceremony, themed ’30 years of Democracy, Partnership & Growth,‘ will take place at the Union Buildings in Tshwane, Gauteng.
