The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Hon. Torerai Moyo, has appointed a 16-member Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) board, chaired by UZ Vice Chancellor Professor Paul Mapfumo.
The new board comprises some new and old faces from the previous Zimsec board, which was appointed in 2021.
The board members will be responsible for appointing panels of examiners, approving and registering examination centers, reviewing the rules and regulations relating to examinations, conferring or approving the conferment of certificates, and curbing the leakages of examination papers.
The board members are: – Emmah Mungoni – Alice Nyamugama – Cyprian Masocha – Richard Gundane – Wadzanai Chirongoma – Suzanne Joscelyne – Kind Kapfudza – Sindile Mhlanga – Shami Moyo – Eventhough Ndlovhu – Patronella Nkomazana – Bhekinkosi Nkomo – Rodgers Sisimayi – Lazarus Nembaware – Doreen Moyo (appointed as board vice-chairperson)
Addressing the new board members, Minister Moyo acknowledged their expertise and guidance as invaluable in ensuring the integrity, quality, and relevance of examination processes.
He highlighted key areas that require attention, including enhancing the quality and validity of examinations, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all learners, embracing innovation and technology to improve assessment methods, fostering collaboration with stakeholders to address emerging challenges and Upholding the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct.
