On June 6, 2024, a fatal road accident occurred on the Harare-Mutare Highway near Mutangadura, involving a Tenda bus, a haulage truck, and a Phil & Pats bus.
The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred this afternoon at the 32 kilometre peg along Harare-Mutare Road near Mutangadura in which four people were k!lled when a Tenda bus collided with a haulage truck and a Phils and Pats bus.
The Tenda bus was on the way to Mutare whilst Phils and Pats bus was on the way to Harare.
The bodies of the victims were taken to Marondera Provincial Hospital mortuary for post mortem whilst the injured were referred to Marondera Provincial Hospital and Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
Police officers are currently at the scene. The total number of passengers in the two buses is yet to be confirmed. More details will be released in due course.
The collision resulted in four confirmed de@ths and numerous injuries. The accident was reportedly caused by the Tenda bus swerving to avoid a haulage truck, leading to a head-on crash with the Phil & Pats bus.
Emergency services, including the Zimbabwe Republic Police, responded to the scene, and the Minister of Transport visited the site, highlighting the severity of the accident.
The incident has sparked discussions on road safety and the need for preventive measures.
