Agency Gumbo a member of Parliament for Hatcliffe Constituency and Shadow Minister of Justice, Legal & Parliamentary Affairs said Jameson Timba ,Former Minister of State, Office of Prime Minister of Zimbabwe have been arrested for holding a private meeting at residence. It is not clear whether the meeting was sanctioned or not. During the time of writing ZRP was yet to confirm the incident.
Agency Gumbo’s statement reads:
The ZRP has arrested Hon Jameson Timba, his son and over 40 youths who were attending a private June 16 Youth Day meeting at his residence. Hon Timba and the youths were severely beaten and injured. Timba and 20 others are presently detained at Avondale Police whilst the other group has been taken to Harare Central Police Station. We demand the immediate release of our champions. They violated no law. Their arrest is a human rights issue!
