As the Premier League season kicks off, Manchester United fans in Uganda gathered for what appeared to be a prayer session in Iganga.
The event, captured in a viral video shared online, featured fans in club jerseys participating in a band-led prayer session.
The 2024/2025 season started on Friday with Manchester United hosting Fulham at Old Trafford.
Joshua Zirkzee’s debut goal gave Manchester United victory over Fulham in the opening game of the 2024-25 Premier League season.
The video of the Ugandan fans drew mixed reactions online.
Some, like @Mulumba_Hamada, criticized the fans for their focus on Manchester United over local teams.

“Ugandans, you will never see them supporting Busoga FC but busy wasting time on Manchester United,” he said.
“These people can’t march to parliament but can gather for useless things; this country is a big joke,” @Solmon_Starboss, questioned the fans’ priorities amid local issues.
“Oh God, the rest of the world has seen the video. This is going to be a long season for us United Ugandan fans,” @bradley256 expressed concern about the long season ahead for Manchester United supporters in Uganda.
The Red Devils have since improved on their eighth-place finish from last season, though they secured a European spot by winning the FA Cup against Manchester City.
