A video circulating on X (formerly Twitter) has ignited a fierce debate after a primary school teacher was allegedly disciplined by a student’s parents for eating the child’s food in class.
The video shows the teacher being physically restrained by several men while a woman, believed to be the child’s mother, confronts them.
The child’s father is also visible in the footage, apparently taking action against the teacher.
The incident has sparked a wide range of reactions online. Many users expressed concern and questioned the parents’ response.
@youngmello224 commented, “Eating of food shouldn’t be the reason why you treat someone impacting knowledge into your child.”
@theman_jk stated, “Let’s face it, if the teacher was eating kids’ lunches, she should’ve been confronted, not beaten. But let’s not pretend this isn’t a reflection of our society’s quickness to judge and punish without due process.”

Some speculated on the reasons behind the teacher’s alleged actions, with @NexotinGhana saying, “Ooh sorry for him. The guy / teacher is clearly not getting enough food to eat. I’m not saying he should eat his students’ food though.”
Others suggested the teacher was underpaid and possibly struggling with poverty. @RARAAVIS_EMPIRE wrote, “Very bad. He didn’t deserve that treatment for just eating a kid’s food. Too bad. Why are we Africans this insensitive and gruesome. That’s a man probably hungry. He needed to be assessed not lynched like a criminal. He needed help. It could have been due to poverty! Shame!”
Similarly, @Khojo_HazardCR7 remarked, “This teacher is clearly underpaid. Upon all the food he’s eating he still looks malnourished. I think it’s high time they set up some organizations to help teachers like this in rural areas.”
However, some commentators questioned the accuracy of the reported reason for the confrontation. @DMM_5MITH theorized, “Obviously not a school teacher, and the story about food, doesn’t add up with the video. He probably is drunk and misbehaving.”
The incident came to light after the child returned home and reported that the teacher had eaten her food in class, prompting the parents to take disciplinary action that was captured in the now-viral video.
