Prophet Kumchacha of Heavens Gate Ministries is stirring up controversy with his latest claim that marrying multiple wives can contribute to a longer life.
On UTV’s United Showbiz on September 14, 2024, he asserted that polygamy is not a sin, challenging the traditional belief that the Bible forbids it.
Kumchacha argues that while Apostle Paul suggested monogamy, it was merely advice rather than a divine mandate.

“Marriage is tough with just one partner,” he said, suggesting that having two or three wives might make life easier and more enjoyable. He boldly declared, “If I had the wealth of figures like Kwame Despite or Ofori Sarpong, I would marry multiple wives myself.”
The prophet further criticized the rigid interpretation of biblical texts, noting that Paul’s guidance in 1 Timothy on marriage is not a universal command.
He even drew parallels with Paul’s other recommendations, like the prohibition on women preaching in churches, which many congregations ignore.
Kumchacha’s remarks are sure to spark debate among religious circles and beyond, as he challenges conventional views on marriage and biblical interpretation.
