A shocking incident unfolded in Springfield, Illinois, when a 911 call for assistance turned de@dly. Sonya Massey, 36, contacted authorities to report a suspected intruder, but the responding officers’ actions led to her tragic de@th.
The bodycam footage, released by Illinois State Police, reveals a chaotic scene where officers shout at Massey to put down a pot of boiling water as they point their guns at her.
The events unfolded on July 6 when Massey called police to her home, concerned about a potential break-in. Deputies entered her home and observed her searching for identification.

However, the situation escalated when Deputy Sean Grayson noticed a pot on the stove and warned against a potential fire. Massey approached the stove to remove the pot, and a brief exchange ensued, including a mention of “steaming hot water” and Massey saying, “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus.”
The encounter ended in tragedy, with Grayson firing his weapon, resulting in Massey’s de@th. He has since been fired, charged with m_rder and official misconduct, and pleaded not guilty.
