In a story that sounds almost too incredible to be true, a 70-year-old woman is making headlines with her extraordinary claim of being pregnant for the past 45 years.
Her remarkable narrative begins in 1977 and unfolds with a series of personal tragedies and triumphs that span nearly half a century.
The woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, was married in 1973.
Her early years of marriage were marred by hardship, including the devastating loss of her first child and severe domestic abus3.
Her first husband’s frequent drunken outbursts and physical violence eventually led to their separation.
As she approached the end of her pregnancy with her first husband’s child, she made the difficult decision to leave him, seeking refuge at her grandmother’s home.

During this turbulent period, she recalls that the baby she was carrying stopped moving. Her first husband, who was adamant that she would never bear children, pressured her to return.
Yet, determined to escape the abusive situation, she refused, choosing to prioritise her safety over remaining in a harmful environment.
In 1977, she married again. Her second husband was a stark contrast to her first; he was kind, supportive, and content with his life as it was.
Despite his previous children, he welcomed her with open arms, insisting that she need not worry about her inability to produce offspring.
“I have been pregnant since 1977. I married my first husband in 1973, but we separated. During that period, I remarried, and although I became pregnant again, my first child did not survive,” she said.
This new marriage, she explains, was a transformative experience for her. She began to appreciate the true meaning of partnership and support, feeling that her second husband was a “gift from heaven.”
Her second husband’s unwavering support was a source of comfort as she continued to experience what she describes as a perpetual pregnancy.
She recounts how her second husband would encourage her to rest and care for herself, particularly when her pregnancy made it difficult for her to work in the garden.
He accepted her condition without judgment, pledging to raise his own children separately while cherishing her company.
For years, they lived harmoniously, their relationship marked by deep affection and mutual respect. The couple’s life together was peaceful until recently, when her husband passed away, leaving her to reflect on their life together and the unique circumstances of her pregnancy.
Throughout her long journey, she embraced Christianity and was baptized, finding solace and renewal in her faith. She and her mother had regularly attended church, though her mother’s health has since declined, limiting her ability to participate in church activities.
