Mavis Mada, an 18-year-old from Hwedza who endured a horrifying gang @ss@ult on July 4, 2024, has successfully completed a nurse aide training course.
The brutal @tt@ck, which lasted four hours and was filmed by her @ss@ilants, involved severe physical @buse.
In the aftermath, Dr. Michael Mandaza from Pacific 24Hour Hospital in Mabvuku stepped in to support Mavis’s recovery, offering her a complimentary three-month training program along with rehabilitation for her physical and emotional healing.
“We are delighted that Mavis has successfully completed her training,” Dr. Mandaza stated, adding that they would discuss her future steps with her family.
The training initiative aimed to empower Mavis and help her achieve independence.

Two years prior, she had struggled academically, failing her Ordinary Level examinations, and has since lived with her grandmother in Hwedza. With her mother working as a housemaid in Harare and her father deceased, Mavis faced significant challenges.
Pacific 24Hour Hospital generously covered all expenses associated with her course, including uniforms, meals, and lodging.
The brutal @tt@ck on Mavis shocked the community and went viral, leading to the @rr3st of her five assailants. The group, comprising four minors and one 19-year-old, faced multiple charges, including @ggr@vated !ndecent @ss@ult and cyb3rbullying.
Vimbai Mike (19) and Rudo Manjere (17) received five-year sentences for their roles in the @tt@ck, which included additional time for the cyberbullying linked to the distribution of the @ss@ult video.
However, their sentences will run concurrently.
The other three juveniles were given a chance to avoid custodial sentences, provided they refrain from similar off3nses over the next five years.
The court proceedings revealed that the @ss@ult unfolded under the guise of providing Mavis with vegetable seedlings.
Instead, she was lured to Vimbai Mike’s home, !mpr!soned in a hut, and subjected to heinous acts before being released unconscious later that day.
