Preparations for the Warriors’ second World Cup Group C qualifier against Nigeria on Sunday in Rwanda are in disarray after the players refused to attend this afternoon’s training session over bonuses.
Zimbabwe opened their World Cup campaign with a goalless draw against Rwanda at the Huye Stadium on Wednesday.
Player sources said they played the game against Rwanda under protest, which could probably be the reason for the underwhelming performance against the East Africa underdogs.
The players have said the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Normalization Committee have failed to honor their promises on bonuses, including daily allowances which have not been paid since their arrival in Kigali.
They were also not given any money for the game against Rwanda.
A scheduled training session at 14.30hrs failed to take place as players refused to come out of their rooms.
Coach Baltemar Brito and his technical team were left frustrated after the players boycotted the training session.
ZIFA NC chairman Lincoln Mutasa and his committee member Sikhumbuzo Ndebele are part of the delegation in Rwanda.
