Former Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa has referred to the ZiG currency as “leaves.”
Chamisa’s statement, “ZIG mashizha,” is a play on words, utilising the Shona phrase “mashizha,” which translates to “leaves,” to criticise the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency.
In this context, Chamisa employs the phrase to draw a comparison between the ZiG currency and leaves.
The implication is that just as leaves wither and fall away, the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency will also depreciate and become worthless.
Chamisa allegedly suggests that the new currency is unsustainable and will ultimately fail to address the country’s economic challenges.
