Online controversy has ignited following a circulating video depicting Great Zimbabwe University authority dragging a student who failed to provide proof of payment for their tuition fees.
In a video posted on ZINASU X handle, the student has been subjected to being dragged out of the institution, a practice that contrasts with government policies and, more importantly, infringes upon students’ fundamental right to education.
“Students at Great Zimbabwe University are being dragged out of the instituion for failing to produce proof of payment. This is in contrast to govt policy, & infringes the right to education. We implore the authorities at GZU to act in the best interests of the students,” reads the post.
The situation has sparked outrage among the student body and concerned citizens alike. Many argue that education should be accessible to all, regardless of financial status, and that such heavy-handed measures only serve to deepen existing inequalities.

There surely must be better ways to this than this humiliating treatment. The right to access education must be respected. We urge GZU to seek an amicable solution that allows students to learn while they work to clear arrears. Gvt has said students must learn

Great Zimbabwe University has gone too far!!
We dialogued and they only solved a tenth of the students issues. Am well informed of their plan to drag the SRC election to another semester so as to run the Uni like a tuckshop. We will use the language you hear best.
