In a shocking case that has left a community reeling, a prominent white commercial farmer, Daniel Brink Bosman, is at the center of controversy after allegedly murdering a 12-year-old boy, Suarance Moffat, with a combine harvester in 2022. The incident occurred at Dandreanum farm in Lions’ Den, Chinhoyi, where the victim and two other minors were watching Bosman operate the machine.
According to Suarance’s parents, Bosman concocted a false narrative, claiming his tractor driver, Douglas Zhanewo, had accidentally run over the child. However, the postmortem results revealed a deep laceration on the boy’s head, causing a perforation of the skull, which contradicts the tractor accident story. The family believes Bosman deliberately murdered their son and is now trying to cover his tracks.
Suarance’s father, Tichaona Moffat, has been fighting for justice for two years, but the authorities seem reluctant to act. “We’ve been denied peace since our son’s murder. We demand Bosman’s immediate arrest and prosecution,” Moffat said. The family has opened a fresh case against Bosman, and the police have finally taken action, opening a murder case and a case for filing a false report.
The family’s lawyer, Tungamirai Chamutsa, has raised concerns about the investigation, pointing out inconsistencies in the witness statements and the police’s handling of the case. Chamutsa believes the police and National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) officials might be corrupt, which could be hindering justice.
As the case unfolds, the Moffat family is determined to see justice served. They want Bosman to face the consequences of his alleged actions and are willing to fight for accountability. Will the authorities finally take action, or will the wheels of justice continue to turn slowly? The fate of the Moffat family and the truth behind Suarance’s tragic death hang in the balance.
