Wicknell Chivayo has shared insights into his breakup with his ex-wife, Sonja Madzikanda, and the importance of moving forward in his life.
In response to rumors claiming he left Sonja for a woman connected to her circle, Wicknell took to social media to clarify his position.
In his heartfelt message, he began, “Thank you for your open letter. I genuinely appreciate it. It’s uplifting to see that there are people who care and take the time to offer advice. Life presents us with challenging decisions, and while I strive to prioritize my family’s well-being, I recognize that my choices may lead to questions or concerns. Let me take a moment to provide some clarity.”
He expressed that leaving his ex-wife was one of the most challenging choices he has ever faced, made even more difficult by his deep love for their children, John and Minana. Wicknell acknowledged that their marriage was fraught with irreconcilable differences, particularly with Sonja’s struggles to bond with his family, including his late mother and his six sisters. The continuous conflict became overwhelming, and he felt that the support he needed during tough times was lacking. This realization ultimately led him to conclude that the marriage had become irreparably broken.

Despite these challenges, Wicknell emphasized that Sonja remains a wonderful mother and a commendable person, reinforcing his commitment to taking care of her and respecting her role in their children’s lives. “We co-parent effectively, ensuring the kids’ well-being comes first,” he stated, sharing his frustrations about how men often go unacknowledged for their efforts. He recounted funding a lavish holiday for his children, where they enjoyed a trip to Vietnam and Japan, and providing additional financial support for shopping and family needs, which he felt brought peace to their co-parenting arrangement.
Wicknell also expressed his desire for love and companionship. “I cannot remain single forever. As a man, I yearn for a home filled with peace—somewhere I can return to someone who supports me and shares my life,” he wrote. He spoke highly of his new partner, whom he believes aligns with his values and brings happiness into his life. Noting her beauty and integrity, he dismissed rumors about her supposed ties to his ex-wife as mere fabrications.
In addition to compatibility, Wicknell highlighted the importance of faith in his relationship, stating that his new partner embraces his beliefs, which is pivotal for their shared future.
