Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo has announced his commitment to assist former radio presenter Simon Pashoma Ncube with a generous donation of $20,000 in cash and a single cab truck valued at $15,000 to aid in his farming efforts.
The decision came after a video of Ncube using crutches and struggling with his circumstances went viral on social media, catching the attention of Chivayo. He expressed his feelings on X (formerly Twitter), saying:
“DRIVEN BY LOVE AND SYMPATHY… My heart was moved after watching Simon ‘Pashoma’ Ncube’s emotional video. This former ZBC RADIO DJ dedicated many years to our national broadcaster, becoming a household name on Radio 2 (now Radio Zimbabwe). To see him now in such despair, without the pension he rightfully deserves, is both painful and deplorable. Witnessing someone who was once an icon of Zimbabwean radio now facing such difficulties is truly heartbreaking.
Your mention of our ‘BELOVED PRESIDENT’ and his vision resonates with me. My loyalty to President E.D. MNANGAGWA and his leadership is unwavering. Your acknowledgment of his role in empowering indigenous Zimbabweans through the LAND REFORM PROGRAM greatly influenced my decision to assist you. This alignment with my values and principles is essential to me.

Moreover, your situation stood out for several compelling reasons. Despite serving ZBC for many years, you have been unable to access your pension due to illegal sanctions that have severely impacted our economy. Being from Chikomba West, like you, coming from Gandami, I felt a deep connection to your plight. Your health situation, especially being on crutches—whether due to a permanent disability or an accident—demands immediate assistance. It’s a matter that I cannot overlook.
To provide support, please visit my lawyer, Mr. Sikhumbuzo Mpofu of Munangate and Associates in Harare next Monday. He will hand you $20,000 in cash and accompany you to Enterprise Car Sale, where Madzibaba Chipaga will help you select a single cab truck worth no more than $15,000 to support your farming initiatives and enhance your mobility. Ensure your driver has a valid license to ensure a safe return to Chikomba.
I wish I could be there to personally deliver this small donation, but I’m currently in Paris on business. Please use these resources wisely, as this is a one-time gesture and I will not be able to offer further assistance. Consider purchasing farm implements, fertilizer, and seeds to effectively utilize the land granted to you by the government. I look forward to seeing a video in the near future showcasing the transformation of your farming efforts.
May this gesture remind us all of the importance of unity, productivity, and empowerment as we honor the vision of our BELOVED PRESIDENT and strive for a better Zimbabwe.”
