Businessman Wicknell Chivayo has penned a glowing tribute to President Emmerson Mnangagwa on his appointment as Chairman of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
In a heartfelt social media post, Chivayo praised Mnangagwa’s leadership, saying he has become a beacon of hope for young Zimbabweans who have been misled by the opposition’s negative narratives. Chivayo commended Mnangagwa for uniting the nation despite decades of economic sanctions, redeeming hope, and vindicating Zimbabwe from foreign powers’ stigma.
He applauded the President’s heroism and vision for restoring Zimbabwe’s former glory and achieving upper-middle-income status by 2030.
The businessman pledged his support and that of the patriotic business community to help realize Mnangagwa’s vision for Zimbabwe, SADC, and beyond.
He also expressed gratitude for the President’s empowerment of youth, saying their dreams and aspirations are now being realized thanks to his encouragement.
Chivayo’s post reads:
“Today I wish to celebrate you and the tremendous milestones that Zimbabwe has achieved under your remarkable leadership.
You have become a testament of how a people can remain united, steadfast and resilient even against the tide of decades of economic sanctions. I salute you, Cde.
President, for being a beacon of hope to the young men and women who have harshly judged your administration on the basis of half-truths, ignorance and malicious speculation peddled by a waning and fragmented opposition.
Your leadership ingenuity has redeemed hope in ourselves and vindicated us from the political stigmatization suffered over the years at the hands of foreign powers.
On this occasion of your inauguration as SADC Chairman, I applaud you for being a HERO in our lifetime and for leading the restoration of Zimbabwe to its former glory as the gem of Southern Africa.
I have no doubt that under your Chairmanship, SADC will witness an unprecedented level of Regional integration, cooperation and economic development.
Congratulations are in order Your Excellency, and we stand firm in support of your Vision of placing Zimbabwe at the pinnacle of development as an upper-middle economy by 2030.
