Agness Nyambawa surprised everyone as she stood before the Harare Civil Court magistrate, her voice trembling as she recounted the horrors she endured in her marriage.
She sought a protection order against her husband, Chenjerai Nyambawa, who she claimed had turned their home into a living nightmare.
Agness revealed that Chenjerai would brazenly bring used c0nd0ms into their home.
At first, she used to find them in his pockets and confront him.

Shamelessly, he now carelessly toss them onto their marital bed and order her to dispose of them.
The act was just one in a series of humiliations that left Agness feeling degraded and powerless.
“He returns home and makes calls to his girlfriend with the phone on loudspeaker, ensuring I hear every word,” Agness told the court, her voice breaking.
“He mocks me, calling me barren and comparing me unfavorably to his lover. He even assaulted me, stabbing me in the eye, which has left my vision impaired.”
But the torment didn’t end there.
According to Agness, Chenjerai’s cruelty extended beyond physical abus£.
“He strangles me whenever I ask for money, dragging me to the floor like I’m nothing. At night, he covers himself with a black and white cloth and sprinkles water on me while I sleep, shouting that I need to repent,” she added, describing what felt like some twisted ritual meant to break her spirit.
Chenjerai, however, denied all the accusations, insisting that he loved his family and only wanted peace.
“She’s the one who starts the trouble,” he claimed, but his words did little to sway the magistrate.
After hearing both sides, Magistrate Meenal Naratom granted Agness the protection order she so desperately needed, hoping it would offer her a reprieve from the terror she had been living in.
