Former Kaizer Chiefs defensive midfielder Willard Katsande has taken on a new role as a football analyst at the South African
Katsande’s involvement in the world of football was last reported when he held an administrative position at Sehukhune United. It is uncertain whether he still serves as Sekhukhune’s brand ambassador.
Katsande joined Sehukhune United at the start of the 2021/22 season, making a notable 18 appearances for the club. His contributions played a crucial role in the team’s battle to avoid relegation in their debut season in the DStv Premiership.
After hanging up his boots from international football in 2019, for the second time, Katsande expressed his desire to pursue a career as a coach. In an interview with the Manica Post, he revealed his plans to commence coaching studies in June 2020.
“I think I will only return to the national team set up as a coach. I will be starting my coaching studies in June next year and by the time I call it a day in terms of playing I should have attained the highest coaching badge,” Katsande said at the time.
While it remains unclear whether Katsande achieved his coaching qualifications, he has made a comeback to the football scene, this time as a football analyst for the SABC.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Willard Katsande shared his excitement about his first day at the SABC with his fans. In a video capturing his debut as a football analyst, Katsande expressed his gratitude to Thabiso Mosia and Gloria Brown for making him feel at home.
“Debut as a soccer analyst 🔥,thank you @sabcsport for the opportunity. @thabiso.mosia.12 & Gloria Brown you were amazing, thank you for making me feel at home 🏠,”wrote Katsande on his Instagram.
In the comments section, fans expressed their joy at seeing him on screen. Former Kaizer Chiefs player Lebogang Manyama joined in the celebration, referring to Katsande as his leader.
