Multiple vehicles were utterly destroyed in a fire last night at a local home industry along Willowvale Road in Harare.
The cause of the fire remains unknown as of last night.
Mildred Kakora, a witness to the devastating event, spoke to H-Metro, seeking assistance from firefighters. Depressed by the unfolding situation, Mildred shared that she had been trying to contact the fire brigade for some time without success.
“We have been calling the fire brigade for some minutes and they are yet to arrive at the scene. Our garage, which is next to where the fire started, has also caught fire. Our fears are for our clients’ vehicles. Can you please engage the firefighters to rush to the scene, please?” Mildred implored.
The delay in the arrival of the fire brigade intensified the distress on the ground, with not only personal property at risk but also the vehicles belonging to clients.
As the cause of the fire remained undetermined, it added an element of uncertainty to the already distressing situation. Investigations into the cause of the fire are still underway.
Over the past years, the Willowvale home industry area has been ravaged by sudden fires, destroying property worth millions of dollars. In September, informal traders were reeling after their wares running into millions of dollars were destroyed in a raging inferno at the Glen View 8 home industry.
