Pauline Mudakuvaka, a 36-year-old woman from Ruwa, found herself in serious legal trouble after being apprehended with a quantity of illegal dr_gs during a routine police checkpoint.
On September 22, 2024, she boarded a Harare-bound bus at the Masvingo turnoff in Beitbridge, seemingly oblivious to the impending police inspection.
When the bus driver noticed the security checkpoint, he attempted to evade the authorities by accelerating, but the police soon caught up with them.
A thorough search of the vehicle revealed six green canvas bags in the boot, containing a massive 27 rolls of dagg@, neatly wrapped in black plastic and sealed with cellotape, weighing a total of 59.5 kg.
As the situation unfolded, Mudakuvaka attempted to escape by bolting from the bus and running approximately 300 meters, but was quickly apprehended by the police.
Upon her return to the bus, authorities searched her personal belongings and discovered an additional 5.7 kg of dagg@ hidden in her black satchel.
Faced with two counts of unlawful possession of dangerous dr_gs, she is now remanded in custody as her bail is being considered, with her next court appearance set for September 30.
