A WOMAN from Nyezi Village under Chief Maduna in Filabusi, Matabeleland South province appeared in court facing charges of allegedly scalding a man on his butt0cks with boiling water as punishment for failing to pay a debt.
Ntombizodwa Ndlovu (46) who runs a tuckshop at the Bunyip Mine appeared before Filabusi resident magistrate Abednico Diliza Ndebele facing an assault charge.
She pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The court heard that Ndlovu confronted Joseph Nhliziyo (23) who was boozing at another tuckshop and accused him of failing to pay US$6 he owed her.
Nhliziyo, the court heard, tried in vain to explain to her that he would pay her money but Ndlovu would not buy his story.
While Nhliziyo was buying beer from the tuckshop Ndlovu allegedly picked a pot full of boiling water and poured it on his butt0cks and back leaving him screaming in agony.
Ndlovu is alleged to have gone on to bash him before she was restrained by bystanders.
Nhliziyo was rushed to hospital for medical attention.
The incident was reported to the police leading to Ndlovu’s arrest.
