The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Mpumalanga is responded decisively to a reported r@pe incident that occurred on Wednesday, 18 September 2024, around 12h30 PM inside a shop in Kwaggafontein.
A 24-year-old woman was allegedly att@cked and r@ped by a 34-year-old man who owns a shop in the area.
The victim stated that she was returning from a doctor’s appointment and passed through the shop when the suspect forcefully grabbed her inside and committed the act.
The victim reported the incident to the Kwaggafontein Police, leading to a prompt investigation and arrest of the suspect at his shop on the same day.
The suspect appeared in the Mkobola Magistrate’s Court on 19 September 2024, and the case was adjourned to Friday, 20 September 2024 for legal representation.
The suspect is currently in custody, and preliminary investigations reveal that he has previous pending r@pe cases and was out on bail at the time of this incident.
