Ropafadzo Kalolo, a 27-year-old woman from Bindura, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for a serious as$ault incident involving a 15-year-old girl.
On November 11, 2023, Kalolo confronted the young complainant at her home in Chiwaridzo, accusing her of ste@ling $16 from her aunt.
In a fit of rage, she physically assa_lted the girl with switches, inflicting significant pain and distress.
The situation escalated further when Kalolo maliciously bu_rned the complainant’s left palm using a gas stove, resulting in severe inj_ries.
Following the attack, the victim was promptly treated for her burns at both Bindura Provincial Hospital and a private clinic, highlighting the severity of the injur!es inflicted.
The case was brought before the Bindura Magistrates’ Court, where Kalolo faced justice for her actions.
The magistrate handed down a sentence of three years in prison; however, six months of that sentence were suspended for a period of five years, allowing for a degree of leniency.
Consequently, Kalolo will serve an effective 30 months behind bars for her vi0lent behavior.
