A lawsuit has been filed against ride-hailing company Lyft by a plus-sized rapper, known as Dank Demoss or Dajua Blanding, following an upsetting encounter with one of their drivers. The incident took place earlier this month in Detroit when the rapper attempted to use the Lyft service.
In a video shared on social media on January 19, Demoss recalled the moment the driver, identified as Ibrahim, arrived in his Mercedes-Benz sedan and immediately locked the doors. “I can fit in this car,” she asserted, but the driver dismissed her claim, stating, “Believe me, you can’t.”

He went on to explain that there was no room in the back and that his tires wouldn’t be able to handle her weight.
Despite Ibrahim’s half-hearted apology, he insisted on canceling the ride, suggesting that Demoss should order a larger vehicle. “I’ve been in this situation before,” he revealed, prompting Demoss to challenge him, “So every big person, you turn down because they can’t fit in your car?”
Demoss, who has previously disclosed that she weighs 554 pounds, expressed her hurt feelings in an interview with FOX2 after filing the lawsuit. “I’ve been in cars smaller than that,” she stated, emphasizing the emotional impact of the experience.
As of January 28, her TikTok video detailing the encounter had garnered over 340,000 views, shining a light on the discrimination faced by individuals based on their size.
