A GROUP of young individuals from Harare’s Amsterdam Park have launched a campaign targeting teenage pr3gn*ncy in the area.
The campaign targets youths in areas such as Southlea Park, Ushewokunze and parts of the Mbudzi Roundabout.
Munashe Siraha, the founder of Amsterdam Youth Network, said there has been a rise in teenage pr3gnanc!es in the areas.
This has resulted in young girls abandoning their education and facing significant challenges in their personal and professional development.
Munashe has challenged individuals, organisations and other willing stakeholders to join their campaign and contribute to the collective effort of addressing these pressing issues.
“The prevalence of child marriages has become a disturbing trend, with poverty being a leading factor which is driving young girls into early unions.
“We recognised the urgent need to address these issues affecting our community.
“As young people, we believe that taking the initiative will leave a lasting impact and create a brighter future for our colleagues.
“We want to create a safe and supportive environment for young people, where they have access to information, resources and opportunities that can help them make informed decisions about their lives.
“By working together, with other stakeholders, we aim to provide young people with the necessary support systems and empower them to pursue their education, dreams and aspirations,” said Munashe.
