Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has arrested Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Uzumba constituency, Wiriranai Muchemwa, and councillor Knowledge Chipindu on allegations of theft of trust property.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, ZACC confirmed the arrests, stating, “The two are charged with theft of trust property or alternatively fraud.” The arrests took place earlier this week as part of ongoing efforts to address corruption in public office.
The Uzumba district, located in Mashonaland East Province, is a stronghold for the ruling Zanu PF party. Despite the political significance of the area, the two officials are now facing charges that could impact their standing in the community.
Muchemwa and Chipindu are expected to appear in court soon to answer to the charges.
