Ratidzo Mukarati, the chairwoman of the Zanu-PF Women’s League in Harare, has been suspended by the Zanu-PF Provincial Coordinating Committee. The news was confirmed by Zanu-PF Harare Vice Chairman Ephraim Fundukwa in an interview with The Herald.
While Fundukwa did not disclose the reasons for Mukarati’s suspension, he stated that it is in line with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s call for party members to maintain discipline and adhere to the rule of law.
The suspension comes after Mukarati faced public embarrassment earlier this month when explicit photos of her were leaked online. The photos caused a stir on Facebook and left many Zimbabweans speechless.
However, some people reacted with a more relaxed attitude, acknowledging that Mukarati is human and has personal needs like everyone else.
The leak of the photos sparked heated debates on social media, with some people calling for Mukarati’s resignation while others defended her, citing that everyone has their personal struggles and that she should not be judged harshly.
It remains to be seen how Mukarati will respond to the suspension and what actions she will take to redeem herself in the eyes of her party and the public.
