Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has issued a stern warning to individuals who are impersonating ZERA employees and enforcing compliance with fuel sector conditions of operation to deceive and defraud citizens of their hard-earned money.
These unscrupulous individuals are taking advantage of unsuspecting members of the public by falsely claiming to represent ZERA and imposing fake fines or charges related to fuel sector regulations.
ZERA advises the public to be vigilant and cautious of such fraudulent activities. Citizens are encouraged to verify the identity of anyone claiming to be a ZERA employee by asking for official identification or contacting the authority directly for confirmation.
The agency reassures the public that it is taking this matter seriously and is working closely with law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend these criminals.
The authority emphasizes that all official ZERA representatives are issued with identification documents, and any person who encounters someone claiming to be a ZERA employee without proper identification should immediately report the incident to the police or the authority itself.
