Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has announced the appointment of new coaching staff for the Zimbabwe Senior Men’s National Team, as recommended by the Mhishi Committee of Inquiry that was established to investigate the team’s failure to qualify for the recent ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The appointment of Justin Sammons as Head Coach and Dion Ebrahim as Batting Coach was announced last month, and the rest of the technical personnel have now been finalized.
Charl Langeveldt, a former South African cricketer, has been named as Bowling Coach. Langeveldt will be joined by two other South Africans, Ravish Gobind, who will serve as Strategic Performance Coach, and Curtly Diesel, who will be responsible for Strength and Conditioning.
The appointments were made in consultation with Sammons, who also decided to retain Stuart Matsikenyeri in a new role as Fielding Coach. Amato Machikicho will continue to serve as the team’s Physiotherapist.
The only remaining position yet to be filled is that of Team Manager.
The appointments are seen as an important step in rebuilding the team following their disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup.
The new coaching staff will be tasked with leading Zimbabwe back to international success, starting with a busy schedule of upcoming series against various opponents.
